Brown corundum is an artificial corundum made by refining three raw materials, namely bauxite, coke, and iron filings, at a high temperature of 2250 ℃ or above in an electric furnace.
Brown corundum products have the characteristics of high hardness, high purity, impact resistance, oxidation resistance, corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance, non powdering, non cracking, and stable chemical properties. They are one of the important raw materials in the refractory material industry and are widely used in iron ditch castables, refractory ramming materials, and filling aggregates for castables. They are also high-quality raw materials for the three major components of water nozzles, sliding plates, steel ladles, and various corundum products. First grade brown corundum can be divided into two categories: brown corundum F-sand and brown corundum P-sand:
